The Sheds, Crocodile River Reserve
ABOUT
The CRR Nature Explorer’s Club explores African Traditional Medicine!
From Nature we have been provided with food for our tables and remedies for our ailments from the beginning of time. In fact, even in our most common ‘modern’ medicines you will more than likely find some plant derivative. For instance, the next time you find yourself using a panado or ibuprofen give silent thanks to the humble Pine tree for producing B-pinene.
In recognition of African Traditional Medicine Day our CRR Nature Explorer’s will be foraging in the veld to identify medicinal plants. They will collect some edible leaves and seeds to make tea, remedies and concoctions! They will record all of this in their very own Nature Recipe and Remedy books to take home. Can you think of anything more fun?!
This will all be happening at The Sheds @ Birdsong, Gemstone Road, Crocodile River Reserve, Pretoria Rural. The fun starts on Saturday 31 August 2024 at 8h30am. They need to wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat and bring along some lunch time snacks. Exploration, brewing and concoctions will cease at 1pm. The cost is R70 per child to include the Recipe Book.
Please consider sponsoring a child or donating towards the transports costs of R500 per outing. The cost per sponsored child is R90 which includes the Recipe Book and a lunched pack.
