Operation Khataza, a seven piece band led by the enigmatic FARRAH KHATAZA, a mystical character brought to life by Sanele Blaai, accompanied by Jaryd Alexander (Bass), Timothy Fortes(drums), Benji Anstey(guitar), Mariana Del Carmen(Vocals), Lois Flandorp (Vocals) and Fabian Selote (spoken word).

The band's unique sound is a captivating blend of sonics from across Africa. This music transcends boundaries, speaks to the African child on Love, waking from our sleep and slumber, an awareness of self! A conscious vibration by the African youth for Africa home and abroad. This band never ceases to deliver a profound and soul-stirring experience. Their purpose is articulated in “Sonic liberation across Alkebulan.”

A Semblance is a new band led by Asher Gamedze. An experiment, a group in search of new and old dreams and new and old pathways into and through sound. New tunes, concepts and new and old spaces for improvisation. A semblance of groove. A semblance of freedom.

The assembled are idiosyncratic musician-friends that Asher has gotten to know and has played with in various projects – those of his own and others’ – over the years as a working musician in Cape Town both above and underground. Ru Slayen, Zwide Ndwandwe, Nobuhle Ashanti and Keegan Steenkamp; A Semblance is a band of many leaders and the approach to the music resembles this. Each player having the freedom to activate, agitate, expand, extend and initiate based on Gamedze’s concepts and tunes.

With mutual respect flowing between the various band members, both groups are excited to collaborate on this special show and share a bill for the first time.
