REEL TO REALITY FESTIVAL: CAPE TOWN POP UP

Reel to Reality festival presents: The Cape Town Pop-up event.

Taking place on 7th of June 2024, the festival will extend its programme to audiences in Cape Town at the Gorgeous George hotel, at 18h00. 

Reel to Reality Festival is a South African annual film festival curated by Behind Her Lens Visuals, that aims to spotlight films made by filmmakers within the African diaspora, to showcase the past, present and future of diasporic cinema through strong voices in film. The festival aims to grant visibility and distribution to emerging voices and stories of African descent, across socio-political divides. 

The film showcase will be followed by a talk segment, Behind The Lens, focused on the incredible work of acclaimed director, Kyla Philander.

Kyla's work celebrates the chaotic beauty of life, and at its heart is a profound sense of empathy with people. Blessed with an instinctive understanding of performance from a childhood spent observing their performer father at work, their unique filmic style is centered on characters they really believe in, always shot with a highly refined and personal visual sensibility that is striking as well as beautiful.

Tickets are R120 per person.
