ABOUT

Fairview Wine and Cheese is proud to present its first-ever Harvest Table Luncheon on Saturday, 25 March 2017. This wonderful paddock-to-plate experience is all about bringing the farm’s bountiful produce and fruits of the harvest directly to the table for guests to experience and enjoy in a relaxed al fresco setting.

Guests will be seated at a long table set under a vine canopy where they are encouraged to mingle with those around them over trendy sharing platters prepared and conceptualised by the Goatshed restaurant head chef, SJ Nel. The menu will feature some of Fairview’s finest artisanal produce, including generous servings of its renowned cheeses, breads, olives, charcuterie and homemade preserves. In the spirit of the bounty of the harvest, guests will be able to help themselves to a bottomless supply of Fairview’s new young wines, which they can tap straight from the vat in true farm style.

“Harvest is an incredibly important time of the year for us and it is certainly a time to acknowledge the efforts that go into carefully crafting our wines with elegance and complexity. This year we celebrate the 20th harvest of our Viognier variety for which we have the mother block in South Africa. We ask those who have shared in Fairview’s journey and successes to join us at our new Harvest Table Lunches,” says Charles Back, owner of Fairview Wine and Cheese.

Fairview Wine and Cheese presents this exclusive feast as a chance to explore the Goatshed’s newest offering. Tickets cost R325 per person and can be purchased via www.quicket.co.za. Tickets will include the lunch and Fairview’s newest harvest wine.

ABOUT FAIRVIEW FARM:
Fairview Estate is a third generation family owned farm, located on the slopes of Paarl Mountain in the winelands of the Cape of Good Hope. With a winemaking heritage reaching back to 1693, Fairview is a respected and awarded producer and has been bottling wine under its own label since 1974. During this time the farm has developed a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading wine producers. Under the guidance of owner Charles Back, who joined his father at the farm in 1978, Fairview is driven by its philosophy of being authentic, honouring the farm’s heritage and always innovating. Charles has always wanted to do things differently – introducing Mediterranean grapes such as Viognier, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah to the Cape. He also began to make artisanal cheese – a business that has gone on to become every bit as prestigious and successful as wine.
Today, Fairview is committed to the preservation of the local environment. With the support of Cape Nature, Fairview continually removes harmful alien vegetation present on the farm. Since 2010, Fairview has proudly carried the Integrity & Sustainability seal that certifies that its farming production is done in an environmentally friendly way. Fairview is a member of the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) and Biodiversity in Wine (BWI) initiatives. Fairview’s cheese factory was recognised by The Carbon Protocol of South Africa as the first Carbon Neutral Cheesery on the African continent. In 2014, Charles received the International Wine Challenge Lifetime Achievement award.
