This May, we’re turning up the celebration for Africa Month. Join us at 204 Oxford (formerly Thrupps Centre) for an explosion of art, cinema, fashion and pop-up shopping experiences that capture the essence of our beautiful Continent.


Two evenings of African films, food, wine, conversations, music and fellowship.


Under the theme, From South Africa to Senegal, we present two evenings of visual splendour showcasing the works of South African directors Jarryd Coetsee and Sibusiso Khuzwayo, and Senegalese director Moussa Touré, bringing together films that will touch your heart and give you a peek into the diversity of lives and experiences from the continent.

The Suit dir. Jarryd Coetsee, South Africa

During the apartheid regime's forced removals in 1950s Sophiatown, South Africa, a man forces his wife to treat her lover's suit as a person. The Suit is based on the acclaimed stage play by Can Themba.


The Letter Reader dir. Sibusiso Khuzwayo, South Africa

A young boy from Johannesburg moves in with his grandmother and starts to read letters for the illiterate villagers of KwaZulu-Natal, then develops a crush on one of the recipients.

20 Years Later dir. Moussa Touré, Senegal

During the 1997 war in Congo DRC, former Zaire, Francine, a 12-year-old Congolese girl was recruited by the Rwandan army and its Ugandan ally, led by Laurent Kabila to oust Mobutu from power. 20 years later, Francine’s mother comes to visit her. She tells her story…
