ABOUT

This May 25th, Kings Kraal in Johannesburg will be electrified by the pulsating rhythms of ROOTS2000, the legendary South African pioneers of AfroSoul and AfroPop. With a dynamic career spanning over two decades, ROOTS2000 is set to launch their much-anticipated debut full-length album, Monday Blues. This release marks a significant milestone for the band, following the critical success of their debut EP, Nomasundu, which earned them a contract with California's Olu8 Records.

ROOTS2000’s live performances are nothing short of a celebration, embodying a vibrant passion for life that irresistibly calls audiences to dance. Their latest offering, Monday Blues, is a heartfelt homage to their early days, when Sliq and MXO first captivated the open mic scene in Yeoville, Johannesburg.

The upcoming show at Kings Kraal, curated by Different Folks and House of Mavericks, promises to be an immersive celebration of Arts and Heritage. This nostalgic acoustic set will take place on Afrika Day and feature an eclectic mix of talent. Joining ROOTS2000 will be the soulful Jennifer Johns, the versatile Damon Turner, and the beats of DJ Kiilu, all the way from California. This event also marks the kickoff of ROOTS2000’s national tour, making it a must-see for both long-time fans and new listeners alike.

Don’t miss the chance to experience the magic of ROOTS2000 live, as they bring their unique blend of AfroSoul and AfroPop to Johannesburg, reigniting the spirit of their musical journey and celebrating the rich tapestry of African culture.
