For 58 years The SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service Trust (AMS), a registered non-profit aero-medical organisation has been a steadfast guardian of safety for families in need. With our fleet of fully equipped helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, each equipped with dedicated medical intensive care interiors, and staffed by highly trained crews, we have led the way in aero-medicine. Our ability to swiftly reach remote or inaccessible locations enables us to provide critical, life-saving medical care and airlift injured patients to definitive care. Additionally, our rural health outreach service serves as a vital lifeline for rural communities, ensuring essential healthcare access for those living in remote areas. These services play a crucial role in providing access to healthcare for rural populations, offering preventive care, primary healthcare, and health education. By bringing healthcare closer to home, rural health outreach services improve health outcomes, enhance the quality of life, and promote community well-being.

Our dedication to excellence and commitment to changing and saving lives has ensured that families facing emergencies in challenging environments such as mountains or at sea have access to timely and life-saving assistance. The AMS has become a beacon of hope and a symbol of safety for countless families, offering reassurance during times of crisis. The AMS is the only aero-medical operator in Southern Africa that offers a complete package of air ambulance, rural health outreach, and rescue services, using a mix of fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft and ground vehicles.
