Stoep Tasting 2024 promises to be an exciting weekend once again!

An MTB Adventure Cycle Ride is on offer for guests attending the festival and who enjoy a little mountain biking.

Come and join us at 8 am on the 25th of May 2024 to experience some of our stunning gravel roads and single track in the very beautiful Camdeboo National Park.

The routes are clearly marked, not technical and safe for persons of all ages.

08H00 - 30 km Cycle | R140

08H10 - 22 km Cycle | R120

08H20 - 12 km Cycle | R100

08H30 - 12 km Fun Run / Walk | R120

The event is being held in aid of raising funds for the local Wildehonde Childrens Cycling Group who ride their bikes under the supervision of Johan Sparrius.

The WILDEHONDE CYCLING GROUP was started in 2022 with one very eager Grade 1 rider on a hastily designed and built track on the Laer Volkskool premises, and has now grown to 42 riders!

Both boys and girls from Volkskool, Union and Home Schoolers in the town participate in the weekly group rides in and around the little town of Graaff Reinet.

The name came about as the group consists of such a diverse range of children with regards to age, gender and personality, it was said that they resembled a pack of the colourful, playful and energetic African Wild Dogs endemic to South Africa!

The name has been firmly adopted and even found it's way onto the uniquely designed cycling tops that the youngsters proudly wear out on their rides.

Training and riding are done on the gravel roads in and around the town, but especially on the 13,8 km's of stunning single track that they have recently built in conjunction with the Camdeboo National Park.

The Wildehonde/Wild Dogs take part in the annual Sneeuberg MTB Crawl in Murraysburg, the Wolfees MTB race in Middelburg and have recently participated in their first Eastern Cape MTB Schools League #1.

Here they managed to excel against 10 of Gheberqha's top cycling schools - managing a 3rd place overall, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the Girls Nipper category 0/8 yrs, a 2nd place in the Boys Nipper category, a 2nd place in the Girls Sprog category (u/12) and a 3rd in the Boys Sprog Race.

Travelling to and from league venues is rather expensive and transporting so many bicycles is a challenge in itself.

This years WILDEHONDE MTB ADVENTURE RIDE hopes to raise sufficient funds to have a specialized bicycle trailer built to overcome this challenge.

Please support them and become a part of the Wildehonde pack and proudly call yourself a Wild Dog of the Karoo with pride!
