Tshepo Molefe (pronouns: he/his/him) is a multi-award-winning performance poet and copywriter. With a career spanning over seven years, Molefe has graced many South African stages and has been published in numerous publications. Molefe’s career highlights include being published on the 7th edition of the Sol Plaatje anthology, winning the 2017 WordnSound Poetry league, and publishing his debut poetry anthology, The Brown Bottle series.
We all have had an experience with alcohol or know someone who self-medicates, using ethanol. Most of us are ashamed to admit to doing embarrassing things in the name on “being drunk out of my mind”. Some drink for that purchased happiness. Some drink to forget all their problems, even if it is for only four hours. But what happens when the thing that is supposed to bring you joy, ends up feeding you with more pain. Or worse, makes you the source of your loved one’s suffering.
