IMPORTANT INFO about tomorrow's #autismzootrot2017!! 1) Entrance to the walk is at the JAN SMUTS entrance 2) Parking is available adjacent to the Jan Smuts entrance. This parking is limited. Alternate parking is available on the grass area opposite the Jan Smuts entrance (zoo lake side) 3) Prebooked Quicket ticket holders: you do not have to print your tickets. As long as we can scan the barcode or see the barcode number for manual entry, we will be able to scan you in. You may show us your ticket on your mobile phone. 4) Registration simply means that we scan your ticket to 'check in' and issue you a blue band. Our volunteers will also write the name and number of a responsible adult on the bands of children 3-12. 5) Discounted tickets are available from 6h00 to 8h30 at the Jan Smuts entrance. These tickets are R60/adult and R30/child over 3. Please note that we can only accept cash. Once you have paid, you will be issued a different color band so that the security will give you access to the zoo. There are no physical tickets issued. 6) The actual walk/run will commence at 07h30 SHARP!!! 7) There are 2 distances - 5km and 10km. This is a very casual and fun event. It is totally up to you whether you stroll, walk, jog, run or even dance the entire route. It is also up to you whether you do the 5km or 10km. There will marshals and clear route markers to guide you around the zoo. 8) SAFETY is of paramount importance to us. Vitalmed and EMS paramedic services have sponsored their services to our event. We will also have 2 doctors on call in the event of an emergency. Please make sure to wear a sunhat and suncreen to protect yourself from the harsh JHB sun. We also urge you to bring extra water to keep yourself hydrated. 9) Medals - Only blue band ticket holders will receive medal. When you reach the finish line, proceed to the Jozi 4 Autism tent and hand in your blue band to receive your medal. 10) Exhibitor stands will be setup on the centenary lawn 11) Food vendors including Halal food will be available for purchase so do bring along cash 12) Most importantly we hope you will a FUN, fruitful and inspiring day and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting #autismawareness ?

ABOUT

A community initiative jointly hosted by Autism South Africa (ASA), Caring Womens Forum (CWF), and the F.E.E.D organization (To Feed, Empower, Educate and Develop sustainable communities). This will be the 2nd annual walk/run to be hosted in Johannesburg to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders, hosted under the newly established banner 'Jozi 4 Autism'.

The mission of Jozi 4 autism is to:
  • To promote awareness of the prevalence of autism in South Africa with particular focus on previously disadvantaged communities. 
  • To raise funds which would facilitate the assessment and interventions for children with autism in disadvantaged areas within Gauteng/South Africa. 
  • To encourage social integration of children and families with autism within the context of the community.
