Dementia Dialogues is a series or 12 workshops hosted by Dr. Rayne Stroebel (PhD Dementia Studies) on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the HSFA (Helderberg Society For the Aged) Vonke Park Somerset West, Western Cape South Africa. We invite you to take part in this learning journey with us. All attendees will receive notes and handouts. Refreshments will be served. Workshops run from 14:00 - 15:00, with the Let’s Talk support/knowledge-sharing group taking place from 15:00 - 16:00. We invite caregivers and family members who support loved ones with dementia to join us in sharing insights about this neurocognitive condition and how to provide dignified support for those affected. Note 1) the workshops can be booked individually, and you are not obliged to purchase the entire series. Note 2) There are two ticket types - Attending at the venue (R125) OR Receive the link to the video of the workshop AFTER the event (R100); note it is not live streamed online.

The stigma of the term “dementia” cannot be underestimated. The person diagnosed often is robbed of all agency, autonomy, self-esteem and dignity. We look at the impact of this stigma and ways to avoid it.
