Morgan bay Sea Cliff Climbing Festival

Join the Morgan Bay Seacliff Climbing Festival between the 27th of April to the 1st of May 2024.

A social celebration of the extraordinary sea cliffs here in Morgan bay. The climbing destination mostly includes traditional climbing, so pack your trad rack. 

Morgan Bay is just an hour east of East London off the N2, accessible via the tarred R349 road. All roads are tarred, with the exception of the dirt road leading to the crags and campground. 

Daily flights to East London airport are available from major domestic airports, and arrangements for shuttles can be made for those flying in. 

While most areas are reachable by car, during heavy rains, a vehicle with difflock/4x4 might be needed to get to the crags, assistance can be organized. 

The festival marks the launch of the new campground and backpacker establishment on the farm across the road, situated 300m from the crags. 

Admission to the festival is free. 

Camping at the new site priced at R75 per person (non-electrical) and R100 per person for a bed in the backpackers (linen not provided). Please book for the camping and backpackers separately by contacting Willem by email or WhatsApp. 

There will be vendors selling food and cooldrinks by the cliffs.

Free yoga will be hosted in the mornings at the new campgrounds.

T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event with prior request via WhatsApp and email. 

Evenings will be filled with climbing stories, acoustic music, bonfires, and delicious braais.

There is a search for adventurous slackliners to set up a slack line across one of the bays, with details pending.
