Cape Town's own Stoner Grunge pioneers, We Kill Cowboys, will be heading back up to the great North-Eastern Territory of Gauteng for the first time in almost a year, to hit the illustrious Sowaar Bar for the very first time.

Accompanying WKC are the the Modern Groove Metal mob, Sunken State, and Horror-Rock geniuses, Crash And The Void.

We Kill Cowboys

We Kill Cowboys is a dynamic 4-piece rock ‘n roll ensemble hailing from the vibrant city of Cape Town. Emerging from the creative genius of tattoo artist and singer-songwriter, Alex Muller, the band’s electrifying sound is a captivating fusion of psychedelic rock, punk rock, grunge, and stoner blues.

Led by the mesmerizing and raw vocals of Alex Muller, the band fearlessly tackles anti-establishment themes through their lyricism, inviting listeners into a world of thought-provoking narratives. With each note and word, Alex’s sultry and gritty delivery adds an irresistible edge to the sonic experience.

At the heart of We Kill Cowboys' sonic onslaught, Jono ignites the stage with dirty, searing guitar riffs that slice through the air, while Andrew's thunderous metal drum fills inject an undeniable pulse into the music. Accompanying this assault is Danie, whose fuzzy bass grooves provide a foundation that resonates deep within.

Sunken State

Solace In Solitude is the debut full-length album from South Africa’s self-proclaimed Modern Groove Metal mob Sunken State. The band formed in 2018 in Johannesburg and has been perfecting their sound ever since. Sunken States' debut EP titled Enter the Grey was released in August 2019, followed by the single This Is the End in March 2020, which US tastemaker metal site No Clean Singing described as “vicious, brutal music to be sure, but still manages to be catchy”.

Crash And The Void

“Crash And The Void” was founded in 2019 after two Pretoria-based brothers decided to make a new kind of rock music. Marius Schutte, the vocalist and songwriter of the band, had experience in making film music after finishing a degree in classical music theory and his brother Lumar Schutte was a decorated drummer, mostly playing for concert bands and touring the country. Waldo Van Der Linde, who also studied towards a music degree, soon joined the group after hearing the unique sound and adding his lightning-fast lead guitar style to the mix.

After a few tryouts and a debilitating pandemic throughout 2020, Dillon Van Heerden joined the troupe in 2021 to help out with his unique take on the bass, as well as lending his experience as a sound engineer. Their collective musical influences range from Hans Zimmer to Black Sabbath and everything in between.
