What is Potjiekos?
Potjiekos is a traditional South African dish that is cooked slowly in a three-legged cast-iron pot called a "potjie" (pronounced "poi-kee"). This dish is deeply rooted in South African culture and is often prepared during social gatherings, family gatherings, or outdoor events. The dish typically consists of a variety of meats such as beef, lamb, chicken, or game meats, along with vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions, and tomatoes. Seasonings such as garlic, herbs, and spices are added to enhance the flavour profile.
