ABOUT

As roots nourish plants through a complex and beautifully structured web of support, as the cultural ancestry of the San people feeds the hearts of every African - so music and musical gatherings feed our souls through an intricate web of connections.

As we watch the love tendril formation of the Wizards family root system take hold our hearts, we remember the importance of sacred spaces, special faces and the love that fills the gaps in between.

We remember the importance of giving thanks and respect to the ancestors of trance. We remember our roots.

The San people are the first people of Africa.

It is estimated that they have been living here for the last 30,000+ years. Borne of a culture rich in trance dance, magic, respect for their fellow beings and an intimate relationship with mother nature, they are the true ancestors of trance on our beautiful continent.

Let us unite once more in the forest, under the stars, in one another’s hearts and dance in celebration and thanks of a magnificent culture of raw integration into nature in all its intense glory.

The San people of Botswana face a terrible plight.

“10 years ago..., the Central Kalahari Bushmen won an unprecedented legal victory which today is still being flouted by the Botswana government.
Botswana’s High Court ruled that the Bushmen had been illegally evicted from their ancestral homelands in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and had the right to return home. It also recognized that banning the Bushmen from hunting was unlawful.

Ten years on, Botswana has imposed a country-wide hunting ban and promoted the shooting of “poachers” on sight. In August, a group of Bushmen who were hunting antelope to feed their families were shot at from a police helicopter.

In a situation that has been compared to apartheid South Africa, the government is also forcing the majority of Bushmen to apply for monthly permits to enter their land. Many Bushmen are concerned that, once the current generation has passed away, they will be shut out of their land forever.”
