ABOUT
Thandi Ntuli: Rainbow Revisited Celebration - Live at UNTITLED BASEMENT
Ntuli brings an intimate performance on piano, vocals and synth, to mark and celebrate the release of her new collaborative album, Rainbow Revisited. The album, released under Chicago based record label, International Anthem, in collaboration with LA-based producer and percussionist Carlos Niño, was released on November 17, 2023, and is available on LP, CD and digitally.
In 2019 Ntuli traveled to Los Angeles for the first time to perform at The Ford Theatre at a show presented by The Nonsemble. She met Niño in person for the first time during preparations for that performance, and he invited her to do a session with him and engineer Andy Kravitz at Studio 4 West.
Based on the song Rainbow, from her 2018 release Exiled, Ntuli re-visits, and re-iterates the symbolism of the rainbow in a way that demands an urgent reimagining of the meanings of freedom in a democratic South Africa.
