January Game Popup

Sat Jan 14, 10:30 - Sat Jan 14, 14:00

Monwabisi Community Hall (LoveLife Centre)

ABOUT

The January Serious About Games Game Popup (the last before competition submissions close) is going to be an epic event, co-hosted by Quirky 30 (Brothers for All). It is a chance to engage with fellow game designers and your potential user, and have some fun reconnecting in 2017. We are inviting all participating teams and people interested in serious games and the Langa community to join us for a games morning. We will have a range of games set up on various devices, but please email Regina on [email protected] if you'd like to submit a game or device to use on the day.

We will be organising transport from the Woodstock Exchange to Langa for those that need it. Venue details and directions will be sent through shortly.

About Quirky 30
Formerly
Brothers for All, Quirky 30 is a non-profit social enterprise that up-skills youth in marketable skills using technology to empower, advance and create sustainable communities, tackling youth unemployment, crime and poverty.

About Langa
Established in 1927  in terms of the 1923 Urban Areas Act, Langa is the oldest historically Black township in the Western Cape and was the centre of much resistance to apartheid. Over 20 years into democracy, this community continues to suffer from the many problems that come from deep poverty. Although Langa literally means "sun" in Xhosa, the name of the township is derived from the name of Langalibalele - a chief and renowned rainmaker who was imprisoned on Robben Island in 1873.

See you there!
