ABOUT

A special evening is installed as Kujenga marks the end of their first ever tour with the band's debut performance in the city of Durban.

Kujenga is a seven-piece Black improvised music outfit based in Cape Town. The band’s name comes from the Swahili language, with the word meaning “to build”. This title symbolises what the group believes to be their calling as creators: to build meaningful works, experiences and connections with each and every listener. Kujenga draws from the rich legacy of Black band music in South Africa, with the ensemble aspiring representing the present and future of this historic sound.
