Music on the Vlei with Ernestine Deane , AshweetA and Dj Andara

Hosted on the lawn at the wonderful Beit Al Wafra on the banks of Zeekoevlei . The main house provides a wonderful setting if the weather does turn. Bring blankets , snacks and drinks. Children under 12 free. Doors open at 4pm the music will start after 5pm.

Ernestine Deane is a singer songwriter, voice artist, poet, actor, writer ,producer, activist and film maker. She grew up on the Cape Flats in Grassy Park, Cape Town and started singing professionally with pioneering Hip Hop legends, Black Noise, at the age of 15. Later she found a home with Moodphase5ive who rose to the top of the SA music scene between the late 90s and early 2000s. She released her debut solo album, Dub for Mama, in 2008. She has toured abroad extensively and has worked with the biggest names in South African music.

AshweetA are a four piece band that play an eclectic fusion of local and world sounds fusing Goema , jazz , funk , reggae and everything in-between. Curve is on Bass and voice , Dan on guitars , Wayde on percussion and Jesse on sax. The band have just released their debut album and have toured around South Africa and Mozambique. Starting slow and deep the live set builds up into a fiery groove with uplifting movement.

Dj Andara is a Sonic Sorcerer from Joburg who creates harmonious electronica for a soulful and groovy boogie.
