East London audiences will have the unique opportunity to catch our inaugural episode of the season, Folk Memoir presents three distinct sets exploring music from both artist’s catalogue and an exploratory set hinting at the possibility of a new creation.

Itai Hakim, a multifaceted musician and performance poet, embarks on a transformative journey to reshape Folklore and storytelling, seamlessly infusing it with a contemporary spirit through the enchanting realms of music and live performance. 

Xhanti Nokwali - Umthombo,

Xhanti will share never heard before renditions on uHadi and the tracks from the sensational debut album Umthombo. 

Nokwali’s music speaks to the many injustices that are a continuous experience for the majority of Africans across the world, it offers collective self reflection, as a way to reconnect with culture and identity, as a step towards universal harmony. The messages within his music are Pan Africanism, identity, culture and that unity is the key for liberation, to unify within and with universal existence.
