ABOUT

If you’ve never heard of the Javett Art Centre, this is your chance to discover one of the finest collections of African and contemporary South African art in Gauteng!

Established as a partnership between the University of Pretoria and the Javett Foundation, the centre is packed with outstanding artworks that ‘critically respond to histories of Africa’s creative outputs and future aspirations’.

The Javett is housed in a stunning building that was specially designed for the facility and has several excellent exhibitions currently on display. There is also the precious Mapungubwe Gold collection, which features the 1000-year old Golden Rhino and other intricate artefacts (often called South Africa’s Crown Jewels) created by the first-known kingdom in southern Africa.

Led by David Fleminger and featuring expert facilitators from the centre itself, you don’t want to miss this guided tour through the Javett-UP!

Special notes: the bus will be departing from Sunnyside Park Hotel at 13H00. Please do not be late or the bus will leave without you. The ticket price includes bus fare and Javett Art Centre entry. Bring along your own drinks and snacks for the bus. No food or drinks are allowed in the centre itself.
