Russian Film Festival lands in Cape Town for the first time

From November 3 to 5, the “NuMetro” cinema will host free screenings of Russian films. The festival program includes the comedies “Terrible Dad”, “Dads vs Moms”, “Artek. The Big Journey”, the fantasy film "Chronos" and the animated film “Fixies vs Crabots”. 

Prepare for the incredible journey into the magical world of cinema!

Terrible Dad

Tsar Ivan The Terrible wounds his son to death after they have a fight – just like in the famous painting by Repin. To fix what happened Tsar attempts to travel back to the past using a magic spell book. Yet things don’t go according to the plan, and Tsar gets into our times where he meets the Osipovs family.

Nikita Osipov has no luck in his field - archeology and is an unfortunate father. He divorced his wife and lost touch with his son and daughter. Now they have to find the spell book, so that Tsar has a chance to save his son. Adventure begins!

The Fixies vs. Crabots

Fixies are kind little people who live inside machines and appliances and take care of equipment. The Fixies hide from people: there are only a few lucky people in the world who communicate with them. In the Professor Eugenius's laboratory there is the Fixies school, and only the boy called TomThomas and his friend Kate know about it. But one day, elusive creatures appear there. They spy on the Fixies and threaten their privacy. Who are these strange robots-crabots, what do they need and who is standing behind them? It turns out that Eugenius has an old enemy, and the Professor is challenged to a duel in order to settle old scores! New friends, Mega and Alt, will come to the aid of our Fixies, and everyone will get into an incredible whirlpool of adventures!

SUMMER ENDS SOON

The main character is a Kazakh boy Bah?, who is trying to find himself and dreams of becoming a superman in order to conquer the whole world, falls in love with an inaccessible Polish beauty of the court. The courtyard has its own concepts, rules and relationships, in which it is important for the main character not to lose himself. Will Baha manage to win his love and how will the summer end...

Artek. The Big Journey 

Romka, Yarik, Nicoletta and Elisha make a wish at the magic tree in the Artek camp. The tree takes them back 30 years — to 1988, where the children meet their parents, who were also vacationing in Artek at that time. Now the children need to make friends with their parents and, acting together, find a way back to the future.

Artek. The Big Journey

CHRONOS

We can’t change the past?! You can’t influence the future?! And where is ‘now’?! The protagonists of the film Chronos are searching for the answers to these questions. The film is based on the science-fiction stories by the renowned author Kir Bulychev (the creator of The Guests from the Future).

The film is set in Russia of the past, the present and the future. The protagonists travel in time, trying to discover their ties to history and to sort themselves out.
