ABOUT
This mentorship session will help answer the following questions for attendees:
· Are you aware of the legal difference between incapacity and disability in the workplace?
· How confident are you in recommending restrictions or reasonable accommodations when returning your patient/ client to work?
· Do you know when your patient/ client qualifies for protection as a person with disability under the Employment Equity Act?
· Are you confident that the workplace accommodations you recommend for your clients fulfill the legal requirement of ‘reasonable’?
This session will also introduce healthcare practitioners to the legal framework that regulates how medical incapacity and disability is managed in the workplace. It will enable attendees to address return-to-work issues when planning their treatment interventions and make more confident recommendations to facilitate safe and effective return to work of their patients/clients.
