ABOUT

We're back again for 2023! Pizza and wine together again at last!

The Folk Pino and Pizza festival is a celebration of the Pino family of varietals, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Pinotage, expertly paired with artisanal wood fired pizzas. Last years sold out event was an amazing night and with this year's spectacular tastings it promises to live upto expectations! Tastings will be curated by some of the Western Cape’s top award winning wine producers including Doolhof, Oak Valley, Mount Rosier, Cape Collective, Croydon Vineyards, Anura, DA Hannekom and Bloemendal. Plus, Bomb Squad Beers will be flowing at a great price. You’ll be entertained on the night with live music and exciting giveaways whilst you work your way through your choice of twelve pairings! If you love wine, music and pizza there really is nowhere better to be than Folk Pino Pizza 23. You can expect a little surprise welcome drink and the opportunity to buy wines direct from the farm at cellar door prices. Each of the exhibitors will also be showcasing some of their other fabulous wines and you can purchase extra credits at the event to taste and buy additional tasters, glasses or bottles of wine. We encourage you to get up close and personal with the wine makers that produce these exciting wines. This is a family friendly event, with entertainment for the kids, so bring the whole crew. Kids are free and pizza’s and other drinks will be available to order.

Live entertainment on the day will feature the legendary Nick Turner Trio and Dan the Music Man also featuring special guest performances throughout the afternoon.

The wines selected for the festival pay homage to the excellence and versatility of the varietal. Pinotage is considered by many to be South Africa’s signature varietal. It was cultivated here in 1925 as a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut (Hermitage). Pinot Gris, which is only recently becoming popular on South African’s palates, is a white grape thought to be a mutant clone of Pinot Noir that produces richly textured wines that have long been popular in Italy and France. Pinot Noir, one of the world's most popular red wines, and notoriously difficult to grow, thrives in the Cape's cooler climates and produces light bodied red wines of elegance and complexity. This is a wine tasting of exceptional quality and diversity.

The festival will be from 5-10pm. Doors will open at 4pm. Tickets are available through Quicket at R235 per person or R275 at the door subject to availability. Kids under 18 enter for free. This is a one day only event, tickets are limited so book fast or risk missing out. Provision has been made for seating but reserved tables will not be available. A few picnic blankets will be available and you are welcome to bring your own. Early arrival is recommended to ensure a seat. Alcohol is not for sale to persons under the age of 18. We encourage you to make responsible driving arrangements.
