Gala Concert

The Simon’s Town Music Festival Gala concert is a festive program of a variety of works with the Pro Musica Divina Chamber orchestra conducted by Steven van der Merwe. This will include music from Bizet’s Carmen Suite; the sassy Overture from the Masques et Bergamasques, by Gabriel Faure as well his beautiful Pavane. Also on this program is Oblivion a tango by Piazolla arranged for piano and string orchestra. Steven’s new composition “New Light” for piano and orchestra will premiere with the wonderful pianist Tertia Visser Downie. Virtuoso flautist Liesl Stoltz will delight us with her playing of the Valse from the Suite de Trois morceaux by Benjamin Godard. This will be a feel good concert for everyone to enjoy!

Included in the price of the ticket, there will be a harvest table and complimentary glass of wine or juice to be enjoyed before the concert at 6 PM. This is to accommodate those rugby fans that wish to be in front of their TVs by 9pm to watch the Rugby Word Cup final.
