Lost & Found #artcrawl
Sat Nov 19, 11:00 - Sat Nov 19, 13:00
Clarke's Bookshop
ABOUT
This exclusive, one-off themed crawl is centred on the use of disused objects in contemporary art and how artists turn lost objects into ‘found’ ones and shift their meaning in the process. Is art about transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary?
Expect a lively but informed and accessible introduction to contemporary African art and the ways in which artists are elevating throwaway images or things into art. Corrigall will take a close look at the works of Patrick Bongoy, Francois Knoetze and Mark Rautenbach at Ebony Gallery, Jeanne Gaigher at Smith Gallery and the sculptural works of Marlise Keith showing at Worldart Gallery.
You will get to meet some of the artists and curators attached to these establishments, who will be engaged in a discussion with Corrigall. The crawl will conclude with refreshments and some conversation at a city destination.
Aspiring art collectors, art lovers, or new visitors to the city are all encouraged to join.
Only small numbers (no more than 8 people) will be admitted to these exclusive one-off #crawls. So book promptly to ensure your spot.
