The stigma around mental health continues to be a pervasive idea in general society. This has a large impact on MHCUs ability to find suitable employment. Join seasoned therapist, Roanne Muller as she unpacks the options for and barriers to seeking employment as a MHCU.
In this interactive session she will discuss the following key ideas:
· Applying for an appropriate job
· The client’s CV
· Disclosing of a mental health condition
· Discrimination of MHCUs
· Expectation of finding employment
· The client themselves as barriers

About the presenter:
Roanne Muller is an Occupational Therapist who currently runs her own private practice. She has more than 15 years experience within the field of Mental health, both within the government and private sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Pretoria which she obtained in 2003. In addition to her occupational therapy degree she also completed her B.A general degree, majoring in psychology and criminology through the University of South Africa.
Roanne has a passion for mental health and has a keen interest in cognitive rehabilitation, adult sensory profiling and return to work rehabilitation specifically for mental health care users. Currently her practice is involved with the treatment of in- and out of hospital mental health care users, as well as being involved with a stepdown facility and a nonprofit organisation for mental health care users. She has also been an active member of the Occupational Therapy Association Northern Gauteng Branch since 2002.
When Roanne is not at work, she is a mother of 2 children, a partner and trying to practice what she preaches through living an active lifestyle that involves social gatherings, exercise and outdoor adventures like cycling and camping.
