Food security has been high up on the South African agenda in recent years. This has been intensified by our current drought situation due to water scarcity, and also affected by challenges of traditional farming such as long distances to markets, land reform and lack of agricultural technology and skills. On the other hand, we are also experiencing a gourmet food revolution with several markets, festivals and food trucks springing up and more and more people interested in organic and non-GMO foods and what, if anything, these terms actually mean for our health.

 

Join us for a session on how we can create the conditions for food security that works for all. We will take a look at our food ecosystem and the value chains that attend to both the marginalised and high-end consumer.
