About INSPIRE

INSPIRE is a newly established non-profit organisation, which aims to advance social development in renewable energy through building skills and capacity, and developing practices, systems and relationships which support a transformational and just energy transition. INSPIRE’s key ambitions are to:

  • Cultivate leadership for a people-centered transition.
  • Enhance capacity within the renewable energy ecosystem to maximise economic development and transformation potential.
  • Professionalize the field of social performance in renewable energy.
  • Promote best practices in community engagement and development.
  • Deepen the community development impact of South Africa's renewable energy procurement program.

INSPIRE acknowledges/recognises the often overlooked and undocumented wealth of learnings and experience of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP) in clean energy policy and socio-economic implementation.

INSPIRE is practitioner-led and boasts a strong network of peers and organisations involved in utility-scale renewable energy across South Africa and the continent, including community shareholding trusts. INSPIRE welcomes all role players of the REIPPPP ecosystem to join us as we share, learn and collaborate towards deepened community impact.
