NWU School of Music & Conservatory Hall

ABOUT

The School of Music is pleased to present Thomas Erlank (tenor) and Tinus Botha (piano) in a performance of one of Schubert’s great vocal masterpieces, Schwanengesang (swan song). Schwanengesang is a cycle of 14 songs composed by Franz Schubert in 1828, the final year of his life. It was published posthumously in 1829, and is considered a landmark in the history of the German art song. Schubert masterfully blends text and music to create a masterpiece of great emotional impact, ranging from introspective musings on love and loss to joyous celebrations of nature. This will be Thomas Erlank’s first recital at NWU as a permanent member of staff – an event not to be missed!
