NgoLwimi nobuXhaka-xhaka
NgoLwimi nobu xhaka-xhaka Is a provocation of the complex relationship between African orality and its knowledge systems, and the typewriter as in a literal and figurative character. In this story, a typewriter intrudes on the lives of three members of a family, a Mother Nomhlaba (performed by Yolisa Notwane), a Father Maxhanti (performed by Fezile Nyathela), and their Daughter Kamva ( performed by Kolosa Mbatsha).
The performances raises profound questions about the nature of communication, its legitimacy and the linguistic limitations. Exploring the kind of legitimised forms of knowledge and wisdom systems, how they are gathered and disseminated with in the frames of education. As the typewriter and its human counterpart become entwined, their connection evolves into a fervent dance of frustration and desire, of aggression and tenderness. The typewriter, once a vessel for the written word, now yearns to break free from its confines, to escape the repetitive rhythm of keys and venture into the world beyond.
