Otherwise Comedy Nights is a Premium Stand-up Comedy showcase in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. Featuring the finest stand-up comedians from across South Africa and the world, hosted at a premium restaurant and cocktail bar Sí Cantina Socialé, in the famous Silo District of the Waterfront. The shows were consecutively sold out in 2022, we are back with a bang in 2023!
On Thursday 31st August and Friday 1st September, we feature the legend of South African comedy himself David Kau (Thursday 31st ONLY) With more than 25 years in the game, he has headlined numerous international comedy festivals across the globe including touring with Russel Peters. He starred in the iconic Pure Monate Show and hosts the biggest annual comedy show in the country Blacks Only. We feature the super hilarious Virgil Prins, original from the Eastern Cape now living in Johannesburg. Prins, started standup comedy 12 years ago and was most notably featured on Trevor Noah's Nationwild tour. He has a one man show special on Showmax and is featured on the upcoming Bloemfontein International Comedy Festival. Also on the line up we feature rising star Mzonke Maloney, originally from Klerksdorp in the North West Province. Mzonke was the winner of the Jive Comedy Championship 2023 and featured on the month long Jive Comedy Festival at the Baxter theatre in July. He has since opened for the likes of David Kau and Lazola Gola in Cape Town. His acute observational style of comedy will have you in stitches. The night will be hosted by none other than our resident funny guy Vafa Naraghi. Having recently toured Tanzania and currently on tour in Kenya, he will be returning home to the mother city to tell you of his tales from the East of the continent. This is set to be yet another night of sublime entertainment.
