Silver Mountain Music Festival

Thu Jun 14, 19:00 - Sun Jun 17, 18:00

Grootvadersbosch Conservancy: Various locations between Swellendam, Barrydale and Heidelberg, WC

ABOUT

Music, nature and the chance to experience country life: The Silver Mountain Music Festival is a glorious weekend of fun, entertainment and culture.

The festival brings some of South Africa’s most prominent musicians to this secretive – yet lush – valley, in the Overberg region in the Western Cape. It is organised by well-known musician and conductor, Richard Cock, and a host of partners (including the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy).

And this year, the line-up includes wonderful artists such as:
Pianist Sulayman Human
Soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha
The Charl du Plessis Trio
Richard Cock
Baritone Tim Moloi
Soprano Lauren Dasappa
And many more.

Aside from the music, you can experience the nature and farm life of Grootvadersbosch:
Walk in critically-endangered Renosterveld
Experience life on a dairy farm
Meet the little creatures of the forest
Get close to a wild Cape Buffalo
And learn about stoneground flour

This is the third annual Silver Mountain Music Festival.

In 2018, the festival established its own Youth Foundation to enhance opportunities for rural youth. Linked to youth day, the festival includes workshops by visiting artists, educational and recreational activities in rural schools.

Fri, 15 Jun 09:30 AM - Fri, 15 Jun 11:00 AM
Join a tour of South Africa’s original stoneground flour mill and understand the processes that create a more natural and healthier flour for your body and the environment. Standard commercial flour mills use numerous rollers which damage the wheat germ and destroy valuable vitamins and enzymes. In contrast, the stoneground process preserves wheat’s natural goodness. The local wheat used in the mill comes from farms which practice conservation agriculture – using minimum tillage to reduce the impact on soil and reduce water usage. The local wheat is also GMO-free and no glyphosate is used during harvesting. The final product is healthier for your body and your world! Includes coffee and Eureka Mills rusks.
