The author, Faeeza Ballim, is a Senior lecturer and head of the history department at the University of Johannesburg. Her research interests cohere around science and technology studies and its relationship to African history. Her new research is on the development of AI technology in Africa.
Her book, Eskom: Power, Politics and the (Post)apartheid State, is a groundbreaking study of the role of Eskom in South African history.
Ron Derby is an experienced writer and communicator, currently serving as the editor-in-chief of Mail & Guardian. His background includes extensive work in news, Business reporting, and feature writing for prominent print publications like Business Day, Business Times, Sunday Times, Moneyweb, and Financial Mail.
