ABOUT
A FUNdraiser for YhoXhosa Retreats (Yoga & Xhosa Immersions) and community upliftment on the Wild Coast.
This event is a fusion of Yoga (connection and union) through Indian style Kirtan (singing gathering) and Xhosa learning.
An evening of Xhosa and yogic chants! Come learn some Xhosa through songs and singing! Let the music and yogic mantras harmonize your linguistic brain-waves, aligning body, mind and spirit.
We will be performing a few original and traditional Xhosa songs and chants, as well as Indian yoga mantras. Your participation in joining the chanting is very welcomed (but not necessary). Also bring an instrument if you are inspired and experienced.
We have the great opportunity to announce that Nish Pillay, a very talented Tabla player (an indian style drum which is just divine) is accompanying the musical evening. Julie Zanele Chandra on the guitar and vocals as well as Craig Makhosi Bhim on the drum / rattle / vocals and interweaving the teachings and storytelling part of the evening. The trio will be accompanied by friends who will assist in drumming and singing as well as Xhosa song teachings.
Come practice some Karma Yoga by supporting us in our good cause and mission of bridging cultural gaps and promoting reconciliation in South Africa. Our Yoga and Xhosa Retreats are a beautiful symbol of how cultures can connect and heal. A south african language combined with yogic practices and philosophies that are infused with Xhosa culture as well as the yogic philosophy of union which is ultimately UBUNTU.
Yoga and Xhosa - YhoXhosa - a special project to host experiences of ubuntu through Yoga and Xhosa.
UBuntu Bridge - an initiative to bridge cultural gaps in South Africa as well as promote reconciliation and ubuntu.
This fundraiser is dedicated to our vision and mission which we are ready to expand. We would like to facilitate more Retreats like YhoXhosa, we love our offering of bringing people together with a similar purpose and connecting in an experience that really broadens your heart and mind. This healing experience we would like to make available to more people. Therefore we are asking for support to help us broaden and expand our vision.
The focus on community upliftment and tourism development in rural areas of the Wild Coast is part of our Retreats and the work we are envisioning doing, especially around Bulungula village as our main YhoXhosa Retreat venue. UBuntu Bridge wants to train more young tutors from the rural villages to be part of a language tourism development on the Wild Coast to boost rural businesses, the local economy and language learning.
We want to raise funds for this project so we can keep working towards ubuntu and rural upliftment. If you are enjoying our vision and would like to support us, then please join this event or help spread the word. We are very grateful for any donations. Siyabulela kakhulu. Enkosi.
So join us for a YhoXhosa evening to celebrate our vision and support us! Come enjoy a beautiful and magical musical journey through Xhosa and Yoga.
PS: We also would like to announce exciting new YhoXhosa editions coming up with options closer to Cape Town like a Retreat at Peace of Eden on the Garden Route for Heritage Day (29 Sept - 7 Oct). The format of the Retreat will be slightly different to the Bulungula Retreats but equally exciting (also with more music and chants). In December we are going to host our annual Bulungula Retreat from 7 -15 December! So save the dates and join us!
