The Bubbles Fest at Portland Manor, Knysna, is just around the corner, and it promises to be a two-day extravaganza of bubbly fun. This celebration of Cap Classique sparkling wines is set to take place on 29 & 30 September 2023, and it’s an event that wine enthusiasts won’t want to miss.

What is Cap Classique? Cap Classique is a South African term used for high-quality sparkling wines made in the traditional Champagne method. These wines are known for their exceptional taste and effervescence, and they are often compared to their French counterparts. The Bubbles Fest at Portland Manor is a chance to experience the best Cap Classique wines from ten different prestigious wine estates, each offering a unique and distinct flavour profile.

A Feast for the Senses: The festival will be a true feast for the senses, with plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Attendees will have the opportunity to partake in hot air balloon rides, which will provide stunning aerial views of the picturesque landscape surrounding Portland Manor. And if soaring high in the sky isn’t your thing, there’s a plethora of exciting activities to enjoy on solid ground.

Tantalise Your Taste Buds: At the heart of the Bubbles Fest lies the chance to indulge in some of the finest Cap Classique wines. Wine connoisseurs will be in their element as they explore the various wine estates and taste their exquisite creations. Craft beer tastings will also be available for those who prefer a hoppy alternative.

Cap Classique and Sourdough Masterclasses: For those looking to elevate their gastronomic skills, the festival will feature exclusive masterclasses on sourdough bread-making and Cap Classique wine pairings. Learn from experts and take home valuable knowledge to impress your friends and family with your newfound culinary talents.

Stalls and Kiddies Activities: As you stroll through the festival grounds, you’ll find a range of artisanal stalls showcasing local products, from handmade crafts to delectable treats. And rest assured, the little ones won’t be left out of the fun. Kiddies activities will be available to keep them entertained, ensuring that the Bubbles Fest is a family-friendly event for everyone to enjoy.

Exclusive Events: In addition to the main festivities, private events will be held for VIP guests, providing an exclusive and intimate experience. These events will offer a more personalised encounter with the winemakers, additional wine tastings, and access to secluded areas of the Portland Manor estate:

~ Friday 29 September, 6.30 pm: Bubbles & Bow Ties Dinner featuring a four course dinner paired with sparkling wines from Alvi's Drift estate, presented by winemaker Alvi van der Merwe and Cape Wine Master Junel Louw. Hosted in the Portland Manor House dining room.

~ Saturday 30 September, 8.30 am: Bubbles Breakfast - a three course breakfast paired with sparkling wines by GM&Ahrens and hosted by the quirky and energetic Gerrit Maritz, in the grand dining room of Portland Manor House.

~ Saturday 30 September, 1 pm: Bubbles & Brushes - the opportunity to create your own masterpiece guided by artist Helena Grobler, while you sip on Domaine des Dieux sparkling wines, on the Manor House terrace. All art supplies provided.

Majozi Live Concert: The highlight of the festival will be a live concert featuring MAJOZI, a rising star in the South African music scene, who has captured the hearts of audiences with his soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and captivating melodies and is making waves locally and internationally.
