ABOUT
A fun and exciting Klein Karoo weekend getaway for flower lovers and gardeners. After the fabulous rains this region had this year, the flower season will sure be a grand affair! To coincide with the annual open garden safari through the villages of Barrydale and Smitsville, there will be informative talks - the well-known plant guru Dr Ernst van Jaarsveld will share his vast knowledge; guided tours through veld, medicinal and the community vegetable gardens; a magical Flowerscape Experience with TV florist celebrity Jill Manson; a long table botanical dinner evening; tea garden market; botanical art exhibitions; a guided labyrinth walk in one of the 8 labyrinths around Barrydale. It is a fundraising event, with an auction, raffle tickets and scarecrows to bid on. All the proceeds will go to Barrydale Hospice, a wonderful way to give back to the community. Full weekend ticket of R600 gives you access to talks, garden map, guided tours, Mad Hatter's G & Tea party, long table botanical dinner, guided labyrinth walk and circle dance. Flowerscape Experience and Cyanotype Printing Workshop are separate cost. See program on website www.barrydaleinbloom.com.
Flowerscape Experience with Jill Manson, celebrity florist of the TV show Fresh Cut
Saturday 7 October 15h - 17h30, R650
A journey of self-discovery connecting with flowers, plants and the healing energy of Mother Nature.
The two and a half hour workshop will include a walking meditation to forage foliage, flowers and creative elements like bark and wood. Each person will receive a personal message from Jill according to the flowers and earth elements they chose. A beautiful way to find balance in your life and re-align to your most powerful self. You will then creatively play to arrange the foliage and flowers in a centrepiece on the tables for the long table botanical dinner.
Please bring your own pair of secateurs and/or flower scissors.
