Join us for an enchanting journey into the captivating world of pinhole photography."See Yourself in a Different Light" is an immersive workshop that will be led by the renowned photographer Alet Pretorius. Alet will guide you through the process of creating stunning self-portraits with nothing more than a light-tight box, a pin-sized hole, and the power of your imagination. During the workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of pinhole photography, and take a self-portrait with their own pin-hole camera. The negative photograph will be converted into a positive, which will be ready for you to frame and take home with you. All materials will be provided.
Through the Lens Collective, situated in the vibrant Victoria Yards in Lorentzville provides the perfect backdrop for this creative exploration. About the facilitator:
Alet Pretorius is a multi-talented individual who works as a freelance photographer, lecturer, and visual artist. Her primary focus lies in the field of photojournalism and storytelling, with a versatility that extends to different environments such as media, corporate, personal, and social contexts. She has more than 19 years of photojournalism experience which included a position of Picture Editor at Beeld newspaper. Currently, she works as a freelance photographer for numerous publications and news agencies while also dedicating her time to teaching at esteemed institutions such as the University of Pretoria, Market Photo Workshop, and Boston Media House on a part-time basis.
Alet's captivating photographs have found their way into newspapers, magazines, books, and online publications. Her remarkable talent has earned her multiple awards, and her work has been showcased in various galleries through exhibitions. About the venue:
Through the Lens Collective is a collaborative educational and developmental photographic space created by South African visual artist and educator Michelle Loukidis, who shares a commitment to, and appreciation of, the photographic medium on the African continent. Through photographic training the collective aims to develop creativity, critical thinking and professional practice.

You are welcome to bring a prop to be photographed with (a mirror, other objects, or wear your favourite outfit/accessory )
