Mother Funnies is an interactive comedy experience where Cape Town’s funniest comediennes entertain audiences and discuss various topics around motherhood and life.

The topic for this Women's Month show: Weird, Wacky and Wonderful Birth Stories!

Your host for the evening will lead a line-up of hilarious queens that, along with the involvement of the audience, share their labour whims and whoas:

Mira Hewana aka The Queen Of Kasi Comedy is the most renowned vernac comedian straight outta Gugs and onto stages around the country from Makhanda to Limpopo. Mira makes audiences gag of laughter with her stories and relatable thoughts in authentic kasi style!

Ma Suzy is a badass Afrikaans tannie who is also a cancer survivor and angel mom. She sees comedy as her therapy, and hopefully, her therapy works for you.

Vee Morton is a Durban native with quick-witted retorts and amusing stories about her journey from Durbs to the Mother City. Having had audiences in stitches in both her hometown in KZN and Cape Town, Vee is truly a memorable entertainer.

Tumi Mkha' or 'Mrs X' as she is affectionately known (with a one-woman show of the same name), is a hilarious Tzaneen-born comedienne who has just joined the realm of motherhood. Mka' animatedly narrates her life through her witty anecdotes and laugh-out-loud funny relatable stories. 

Candace Nielson is a passionate artist with a gift for penning the most compelling stories with a cheeky,  comedic twist. This Queen of Cheese takes audiences on a journey through her mixed heritage, addiction recovery and life as a mom comedienne. Candace has graced several stages across the city and is a firm favorite on the comedy circuit.

Lerato Sokhulu Lerato is a multi-faceted artist with a career spanning over 7 years in radio broadcasting and television content producing. She has worked for some of the biggest media companies in South Africa , is an actor and delights audiences with her spicy stand-up comedy.

Melissa Ohlsson, a creative hailing from the streets of the Cape Flats, is a mom of two, a writer, a feminist, and a corporate ninja, learning to navigate these different worlds using humor and her coloured identity as a catalyst. She candidly shares her analogies of everyday and real-life scenarios with audiences in a fresh, witty fashion.

And introducing newcomer... Imaan Shah. So grab your girls for a side-splittingly stylish night out!
