ABOUT

Zoe Molelekwa is a remarkable young man, flowering and rising like the fabled phoenix from the tragic yet fertile grounding and legacy left by his late father, Moses "Taiwa" Molelekwa, and mother, Florence Mtoba. This young pianist has traveled quite some journey and is now living his musical dream, letting the music flow through his hands to the keys.

He decided that he was ready to begin his journey as a musician, and so he took off for Durban in 2014 to commence his studies. Once he had climatized to the Durban jazz scene as a Johannesburg native, in 2015, he opened up for the 2015 Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz, Nduduzo Makhathini, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, People's Park, with his band, Zoe & The New Life. This proved to be a breakthrough for him as a band leader, as Zoe & The New Life has gone on to perform at the African Indigenous Music Festival, The Chairman, and The African Freedom Station, to name a few.

Zoe decided to take a two-year hiatus, removing himself from the scene, taking time out to read more, delve deeper into Music, theater, Art, and African Literature, all subjects that give direction and inspire the music, poetry, and essays he writes. He rose back to the scene in 2015 playing keyboards on Forest Jam Southern Africa and SAROY's debut album, PELAKOLO, a band from the southern tip of Madagascar.

Doors open at 6 pm.

Performance at 8:00 pm.
