ABOUT
The Afrikan Time Jazz Assembly draws its inspiration from Herbie Tsoaeli’s memorable journey of Cycling in Circles with the great masters, whom he also refers to as the Majors up There & Down Here. The sons and daughters of the soil of Africa and the diaspora.
The ATJ Assembly will celebrate and commemorate the great masters - their language, style, buzz of sounds of vibrations emanating from each and every corner of the street, drums, ceremonies, celebrations, riots ,shebeens ,churches of different denominations, which connected the people for Hours, over different Era(s), and Errors. In voices, rhythms, hymns, chants and all the blues.
The ATJ Assembly comprises accomplished musicians who come from different backyard backgrounds featuring: Sisonke Xonti on tenor saxophone, Lwanda Gogwana on trumpet, Phumlani Mtiti on alto saxophone, Lungile Kunene on drums, Yonela Mnana on piano, and Herbie Tsoaeli on bass. We also have great music curation by the likes of Castro, Jazzy Jiggo & MaFashion, making this a day of musical bliss.
Beautiful people hope to see you All, in your numbers, at this celebration and commemoration of Music of the People, from the People, by the People
