Time: 14:15 - Catamarans, Beach Start Langebaan Main Beach 
          14:30 - SUP's & Surfski's, West of  Skaapen Island between a start Yact stationed on the North Western side of Skaapen Island and marker  buoy positioned off the Island
          14:30 - Seeded Competitors, Beach Start Langebaan Main Beach 
          15:00 - 3 Seperate demarcated starting camps
- Upwind  -Windsurfers (Towards Pearlys)
- Centre - Kites
- Downwind - Foiling kites & Foiling Windsurfers

Cost of entry on line is R 350 and on the day on the beach R 500 additional family members R 250. Timing  - Race vest - Medal

Welcome to the Langebaan to Saldanha Downwind Dash!

The 31st running of the prestigious Langebaan to Saldanha Downwind Dash will be held over the week end of the 7th and 8th January 2017

This challenge, which is open to windsurfers, kite boarders, hobie catamarans and sailing dinghies, is without doubt the largest gathering of water sport enthusiasts in Africa.

The race attracts leading international competitors, but is also an opportunity for all levels of expertise, juniors, family groups and leisure sailors to test their skills.

Registration at Marra Square Langebaan 9h00 – 12h00

Thanks to Nick Lightbody of High Constantia Properties for sponsoring the Marra Square.

(Ensure that your timing tag is on your arm and exposed. It is your responsibility to ensure that your race number is visible on your back. If the finish judges cannot see the number, you will not be recorded.)

Please read the racing rules and guidelines for rescue before taking part.

All tags must be returned immediately after the race and will be collected by a beach marshal.

Please hand in your tag at the end point to receive your medal, if you do not hand your tag in you will be disqualified.

Race Start from Langebaan at 15h00.

Depending on the wind, otherwise on Sunday

Course

Starts at Langebaan – Donkergat – Leentjiesklip – South of S4 – Multi Purpose Jetty – 20km

(Please take note of the mussel farm before the end point at Saldanha Beach Sailing Club)

Finish at Saldanha Beach Sailing Club

The tide conditions are not favourable for a large beach area at the finish.

Kiters are therefore requested to move along the beach and drop their kites as quickly as possible.

Protests

The officials cannot watch everything that goes on at the start and in the water. If you see someone cheating, there will be protest forms available at the finish.
