ABOUT
Clifton School will be performing a choral and instrumental concert at the Reichenau Mission church. The concert is fundraiser and proceeds will go the preservation and restoration of the historic mission.
Reichenau was built as an outstation of Mariannhill Monastery, near Pinetown, at the end of the 19th Century by Trappist monks, who were not allowed to speak and communicated using 187 different hand signals. The mission boasts one of South Africa’s only stone-ground flour mill. It’s inside a building built against a cliff, powered by water from the Polela River. Follow the Reichenau Mission Station on FB for more information. The mission will be offering tours on the Sunday as well.
Not only will Clifton be performing a concert in the church, but the choir will also be singing at the Mass on Sunday morning for the local community. This Mass is open to visitors.
Added to that there will be a Country Market selling local produce and artisanal goods - perfect items for the picnic lunch.
