Crawford International La Lucia College presents: Crawfordia

Crawfordia is a kingdom… country… somewhere…some time long, long ago… maybe?!

Crawford International La Lucia College received the demand request from the King of Crawfordia to host their Independence Celebrations at our school. To comply adhere embrace his request, we have all embarked on a journey of projects and inquiry-based learning to ensure he is satisfied happy with our participation in Crawfordia’s celebrations.

With over 12 subjects involved in the process our school is buzzing with excitement to see all the hard work showcased at this event. Normally the audience would expect the process to only involve rehearsals for dance, music, and drama students, but this time it also includes production projects as well as entrepreneurship development and encouraging cross-curricular activities. Art students made the Commedia Dell’ Arte masks that the Grade 10 Dramatic Arts students will be performing in. English, Afrikaans and IsiZulu students created newspapers for Crawfordia. Grade 8 and 9 students have made terrariums and detergents to sell in the marketplace. The grade 8 Global Competency students will be preparing feasts for the audience members to enjoy as well as sweet treats during interval. The engineering graphics and design department assisted in designing and drawing up the seating plans. Business Studies students have been hard at work with marketing strategies and the teachers have themselves engaged in making teaching and learning globally relevant and fun!

The objective was the process. The process of learning hands on! Now we get to celebrate the end of the process in a spectacular fashion!

The supper theatre comedy nights will include dance, drama, and music performances. Some old, some new, some completely out of place and out of tune.

The menus for each night will be made available to you after you have purchased your tickets. An email with a link/QR Code of the menus will be sent to you on 5 May 2023. These meals must be pre-ordered and paid for in cash on the night. All meal options chosen from the Menus must be completed on the 5 May 2023. There will also be sweet treats and cold drinks available during interval.

Please note that although this is a supper theatre styled showcase, the table seating for the Medieval feast/celebration will be first come first serve basis.

Dress Code:

All ticket holders and guests are invited to dress in Medieval attire. Best dressed prizes up for grabs during interval.

Please note:

No photography or videography allowed. The school is having the performances recorded and this will be made available to interested persons (T&Cs apply).

Tickets are non-refundable.
