ABOUT
The world's largest financial institutions are looking at the blockchain technology as a means to improve their existing services, systems and products by leveraging its key features: security, transparency, full life-cycle transaction history, real-time, immutability and cost-efficiency. Blockchain technology was first developed to provide an alternative approach to payments, by using cryptographic methods to provide an alternative trust-mechanism between two transacting parties. However, now it is being used as a solution for a wider variety of transactions. In this course we delve deeper into alternatives to the bitcoin blockchain, such as Ripple, Hyperledger and Ethereum. The course provides an insight into the differences between private and public blockchains and where the value of each lies for the user and organisations. The course will also provide information on what financial institutions are currently doing with this technology and the possible use cases of this innovative technology for financial institutions.
