Join David Beretta Owens, front man for 90's grunge rockers Lithium, as well as Café Roux regulars, The DeadBeats, as he plays some of his favourite songs from his original bands, solo releases, as well as a handful of covers close to his heart. He says "NO 80s though - you get enough of that with The DeadBeats!".
As a celebration of reaching his 50th birthday on planet Earth, Dave will be sharing stories about his musical journey. From the primary school choir, to his first "real" band with his Dad and brother on a high school stage, through the drunken haze of the 90s South African Music Explosion, and beyond...
This promises to be an intimate affair as Dave digs deep into the archives to bring you a heart-felt and honest look at the ups and downs of his music career, and share some of the musical memories that have gotten his this far.
"Quite honestly (at the risk of being overly dramatic) without music, both that which I have created, and the countless bands and songs that have picked me up off the ground when I was at my lowest points, I doubt I would have made it this far at all. Writing songs is therapy for me. It is a coping mechanism for dealing with life's rollercoaster."
Come and enjoy the musical adventure.
