ABOUT

With only a few days left until News24's On the Record summit, in partnership with Nedbank, the line-up has been updated with the exceptional addition of the man in charge of the country's purse strings: Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.

Godongwana will add his voice to the thoughtful discussions about South Africa's future, in an exclusive sit down with News24's Carol Paton.

The On the Record summit returns to Johannesburg, featuring top panels of journalists and experts who will dissect a range of issues affecting the national psyche.

Is South Africa ready for a coalition government without the ANC? Will the Springboks manage to beat the odds and bring home the Rugby World Cup for the fourth time? And can SA's economy get its act together?

Join News24 editor-in-chief Adriaan Basson and his team of top editors and journalists on stage with panellists like ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba, former Springbok coach Jake White, Business Leadership SA CEO Busisiwe Mavuso and the country's anti-corruption czar, Advocate Andrea Johnson from the Investigating Directorate.

After successfully hosting the country’s pre-eminent thought leaders and future shapers in Cape Town earlier this year, the second edition of the summit takes place at the Kyalami International Convention Centre on 31 August.

Nedbank is again our proud sponsor of the event, which ignites robust, thoughtful discussions about the next phase of South Africa's development.

The summit brings together the country's top business, political and civil society leaders to discuss the 2024 general election, the war on truth, the country's economic outlook, the state of load shedding, a lurking mafia state, the future of employment in a time of Artificial Intelligence, and the Springboks' chances of bringing home the Willem Webb Ellis trophy in October.

Confirmed speakers include DA Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga, the youngest minister in Cabinet, Maropene Ramokgopa, Thungela Resources CEO July Ndlovu, JSE CEO Leila Fourie, organised crime expert Julian Rademeyer, futurist Dion Chang and former

Springbok Ricardo Laubscher. They will join News24 journalists Pieter du Toit, Qaanitah Hunter, Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Karyn Maughan, Jeff Wicks and Kyle Cowan on stage.

Last year’s sold-out-event saw Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, and former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter outlining their plans and thoughts on how to get South Africa back on track. Much has happened since then and we will check the pulse of the nation on what to expect in the months preceding the watershed 2024 general election.

The Johannesburg event will promptly start at 09:00 and registration will take place from 08:00. This is a full-day event. Lunch and tea breaks are included in the cost.
