ABOUT

We invite you to join a guided Art Walkabout of the exhibition 'Umaf' evuka nje ngenyanga - Dying and rising, as the moon does' which is on at the Constitution Hill Museum. The Keiskamma Art Project's stitched and woven works are showcased and celebrated in this rare and significant twenty-year retrospective. The project was started by medical doctor Carol Hofmeyr in 2002 with a community of women in Hamburg in the Eastern Cape and has grown over the years to produce award winning works that explore the urgent issues of our times. These rich embroidered tapestries are multilayered and explorethe themes of suffering and regeneration, hardship and triumph, despair and hope, and the spiritual strength of a rural community making sense of life in the South African context.
