Rope Jam | 24 Nov Neurodivergence Jam

Thu Nov 24, 19:00 - Thu Nov 24, 21:00

Embodiment Rope Space, Salt River

ABOUT

Rope Jams are spaces where you can come and practice rope tying in a peer-to-peer based setting.

Singles, couples and beginners are all welcome!

This jam will have a specific focus on neurodivergence. These themed jams only happen once every few months, so jump on them while you can!

Neurodivergence Jams have a focus:

  • different types of neurodivergence and how this can impact rope play for rope tops and bottoms.
  • What is the neurodivergent’s experience (sensorial / overwhelm / emotions / intensity / distraction and more).
  • Communication and how it might differ from neurotypical negotiation.
  • Aftercare for neurodivergence (how to know what you need and communicate this).
  • Aftercare if you are tying with a neurodivergent and signs to be aware of.

This jam will focus on the topic of autism.

About your educators

Clara’s (@rope.magick) rope journey began in Europe where she enjoyed being tied as a bunny. Since moving to Cape Town, she has been inspired by ropey poetry, self-ties and rigger tendencies. Rope on skin, how she loves that it’s a thing ;) In her everyday life, Clara is a change-maker and educates on all things related to consent and sexual well-being. Adventurous, intersectional, inclusive and divergent describe her well. Et, elle parle Francais pour ceux qui cherchent un peu le french-touch.

FAQ

What is Shibari/Kinbaku/Bondage?

The art of binding the body of a consenting adult.

Is rope always sexual?

Rope has many benefits and practitioners outside of the sexual paradigm. For some, it is about pushing their bodies not unlike engaging in strenuous exercise or extreme sports. For some it is a way to reclaim their agency after trauma. For some it is a way to experience connection with others without the scripts and expectations associated with genital contact. As long as what you are doing is consensual and intentional, we consider it healthy and valid.

What should I wear?

This is a friendly learning environment, not a sexual one, so crotches are to remain covered. Other than that, you are free to wear whatever you like. We find that it is easier to tie with minimal clothing or clothing that you can move in easily (leggings, shorts, etc).
