Dawjee Trio live @ chiesa di PAZZO LUPi

Dawjee Trio places emphasis on the South African sonic archive through interpretation, reflection, composition and performance.

Their repertoire journeys through the history of the tradition and traces embers of the South African songbook – drawing upon the works of Johnny Dyani, Winston “Mankunku” Ngozi & Hotep Idris Galeta. Their pursuit for meaning, through spacious performance, and the egalitarian energy of 3, is further complemented and complicated by several of Dawjee’s original compositions, which he sees as vessels for deep dialogue.
